OpenAI dropped a planned cut and doubled limits. The exact numbers are not published, so test your own workload.

Week of October 28 to November 3, 2026 · Orbytt Editorial

OpenAI doubled usage limits for ChatGPT Pro 100, Pro 200, Pro 500, and Business Premium plans on October 29. It had planned to cut the Pro 200 allowance first.

BleepingComputer reports that OpenAI planned to reduce the included allowance for existing Pro 200 subscribers after October 29. The price was to stay at $200 a month. After customer feedback, OpenAI doubled the limits instead.

The change mainly affects ChatGPT Work and Codex, which share usage allowances on eligible plans. An OpenAI team member announced it on X. The limits apply right away.

OpenAI does not publish the exact limit for each tier. You cannot compare plans by number. Dots, OpenAI’s always-on assistants, keep their own extended limits.

This report comes from one outlet. Check OpenAI’s plan pages for current terms.

The takeaway

Plan limits can change in a day. Do not build a client workflow that depends on one plan’s allowance.

Why it matters

  • For talent: if you run client work on a paid AI plan, track your weekly use. Keep a second tool ready.
  • For employers: if you pay for AI seats, check the plan terms each quarter.
