We like to believe opportunities go to the most qualified person.
The most experienced, most skilled, most prepared.
But if you’ve spent enough time building a career or a business, you’ve probably noticed something else.
Opportunities don’t always move to the most qualified person.
They often move to the most visible one.
Not because visibility replaces competence.
Because people can’t choose what they don’t know exists.
I’ve seen incredibly talented people stay stuck in obscurity while others with fewer credentials continue to attract opportunities.
The difference wasn’t always skill.
It was awareness.
The internet changed the way opportunities move.
Today, the right client, collaborator, employer, or business partner could be anywhere in the world.
Which means being good at what you do is only part of the equation.
People need a way to discover that you’re good at what you do.
Visibility isn’t about becoming famous.
It’s about becoming findable.
Because trust often starts long before the conversation happens.
It starts when people consistently see your work, your ideas, and the value you bring.
Skill still matters.
In fact, it matters more than ever.
But the question is no longer just whether you’re qualified.
It’s whether the right people know you exist.
