IVADO and CRIMT published findings on October 15, 2026 about how workers see AI. The survey ran from June 26 to July 2, 2026.
The study combines two sources. One is a survey of 1,015 Quebec workers on the Leger LEO panel. The other is an analysis of 94 posts on Canadian Reddit forums. The Future Skills Centre funded the work.
Of the workers surveyed, 43% use AI at work. Among users, 64% use it for less than a quarter of their tasks. Among non-users, 66% say they have no need for AI in their jobs.
Overall, 38% have no specific strategy for adapting to AI. That share is 18% among users and 54% among non-users. Workers who expect full replacement place it 5 to 30 years away.
Organizational support is associated with more training, stronger AI literacy, and more input into how AI is used. The study shows an association, not a cause. It covers Quebec workers, so do not read it as a global figure.
The takeawayAI use is common but light. Training and a voice in how tools roll out go together with better outcomes.
Why it matters
- For talent: a plan for AI skills sets you apart. Many workers in this survey do not have one.
- For employers: offer training and ask staff how AI should fit their work. The study links these to stronger AI literacy.
